Marbled Slip Clay Workshop

Learn new ways to use colored slips for decorating in this hands-on workshop with Bruce Kaynor. Bruce will talk about the structure and chemicals involved in making slips for a basic understanding. Then,he will demonstrate his technique for creating marbled surfaces on handbuilt and wheelthrown forms. Participants can roll out slabs of clay or bring wheel or handbuilt shallow dishes to practice on. Bruce will also demonstrate combing and feathering techniques. Some clay experience is necessary. Bruce Kaynor has worked at a number of Boston area clay studios over the years, including as the studio manager at BCAE for 16 years. He has been working at Mudflat again(!) since Fall 2012.
