Carney is alleged to have followed the victim as she was walking home. Allegedly, Carney held a knife to her throat and handcuffed her to a dumpster before proceeding to sexually assault the victim.

Authorities obtained evidence from the victim that contained DNA which was later linked to Carney’s DNA profile. Clerk Magistrate Michael Sullivan ordered that Carney be held without bail pending a 58A dangerousness hearing to be held on Jan. 28.
