EVERETT, MA – A suspect who allegedly talked about killing police officers was shot by an officer in Everett early Monday morning, according to the Middlesex District Attorney's office. The shooting occurred around midnight at the intersection of Broadway and Second Street, the DA said in a statement.

The officer was sitting in his police car when he was approached by people who said there was a man walking up the street allegedly saying that he wanted to kill a police officer. The officer stepped out of his car and was approached by the man, which led to an "encounter" between the two, according to the DA's office.

The man, 48 years old, was shot and taken to an area hospital with what police believe to be non-life-threatening injuries. Two knives were found at the scene, the DA said.
