Report: Who Is Running for Office in Somerville?

Several candidates have pulled papers for the local election.

SOMERVILLE, MA – Election season is underway, and Monday was the first day for filing for candidacy. Several candidates, including the mayor himself, have pulled papers, with more expected to trickle in this week.

According to the Somerville Times, eight candidates have pulled to run for Alderman-at-Large and there will be races for the Board of Aldermen in Ward 4 and Ward 2. Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone will likely face no opposition this year.

Jesse Clingan and Omar Boukili have filed for candidacy in Ward 4 and Ward 2 incumbent Maryann Heuston will likely be opposed by JT Scott, the Times reported. Three candidates so far have pulled papers for a School Committee seat in Ward 1.

Candidates have until June 28 to pull papers and July 17 to get the required signatures to run.
