Sexual Assault Suspect Arraigned For October Attack

Allen Harmon, who was living at a Vinfen-run group home at the time of the incident, will be held without bail.


A suspect in an attempted rape and assault during October of 2014 was arraigned and held without bail on Thursday, according to a statement from the District Attorney’s Office.

Allen Harmon, 36, was formally charged with assault to rape, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and indecent assault and battery.

At the time, the incident became a focal point of already existing animosity among safety-conscious Winter Hill residents toward the the Vinfen healthcare company, which runs the group home where Harmon was residing at 155 Central St.

Authorities say Harmon jumped a woman who was getting into her parked car on Central Street at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 8. The victim’s screams for help attracted the attention of passersby, prompting Harmon to abandon his assault. He ran from the scene, and police arrested him at the group home shortly thereafter.
