SomerStreets Event Gets in the Halloween Spirit
Monster Mashed-Up will include a costume parade, professional pumpkin carvers, an Oktoberfest area and live music on Sunday, Oct. 19.

Various Halloween-themed events and activities will be held along Somerville Avenue at the final SomerStreets event of the year.
The annual Monster Mashed-Up will include a costume parade, an Oktoberfest area, Milk Row Cemetery tours, live music and a craft fair from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19.
The event is free, open to the public and about 7,000 people are expected to attend, according to the City of Somerville.

From Washington Street to Lowell Street, the event will offer attractions such as artists carving 50-pound pumpkins with power tools, a Halloween make-up and mask-making station, a coconut tree climbing wall, activities at Conway Park and safe Trick-or-Treating at more than 30 locations.
A costume parade kicks off at 12:30 p.m. on Bow Street. Additionally, a costume contest for children will be held at 1 p.m. in Conway Park and costume contests for dogs and adults will take place at River Dog Daycare from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The area from Washington Street to Bow Street will be reserved for Oktoberfest from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Members of the community can share stories about Union Square and Somerville Avenue if they board the M.U.S.C.R.A.T. Storytelling Bus from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The stories will be aired on SCATV.
The Monster Mashed-Up event and other SomerStreets events are meant to promote business in the community and to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle, according to the City of Somerville.
