Somerville AMC Hosting Election Night Watch Party

Sorry, Republicans. It's the AMC's "Blue" watch party for Massachusetts.

SOMERVILLE, MA – Who knew the year's scariest movie would come out after Halloween?

AMC Theatres and CNN are teaming up to bring the network's Election Night in America coverage to 50 theaters nationwide – including two in Massachusetts.

The AMC at Somerville's Assembly Row will host the "Blue" watch party for Democrats, while the theater at 22 Flutie Pass has been selected for the "Red" watch party.

AMC said it used voter registration to determine red or blue theaters. Somerville had the third-most votes for Barack Obama, submitting the third-most overall votes.

"On Election Night, as Americans gather in their communities to watch the conclusion of this historic election, we recognize that Democrats want to cheer with fellow Democrats and Republicans cheer with fellow Republicans," Elizabeth Frank, AMC’s Executive VP and Chief Content & Programming Officer, said in a statement.

The party is for AMC Stubs members only, each of whom can bring two guests. Click here for more information on becoming a Stubs member. Members are eligible to RSVP for either watch party, regardless of political affiliation.

So if you're a political junkie, immune from election fatigue or err on the masochistic side, sit back, relax and – try to – enjoy the show.

Doors open for the events at 6:30 and kicks off at 7.
