Somerville Condom Thief Caught Lifting Rubbers

SOMERVILLE, MA – Kerby Cetoute probably thought he'd get lucky that night. He was wrong.

The 20-year-old Malden man was busted June 13 after allegedly lifting a box of condoms from Stop & Shop on McGrath Highway. Security caught him hiding the box in his shorts and then hanging around near the exit door before he was stopped, a guard told police.

Cetoute allegedly handed responding officers a driver's license that he said belonged to his brother, which police confiscated. When he handed them his own, police discovered he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for charges of assault and battery and malicious damage to a motor vehicle. Police also found blank checks in his backpack.

Cetoute was charged in the shoplifting – which was valued at about $20 – and will also face warrant charges in Malden.
