Somerville FD Unveils Renovated Memorial Sunday

SOMERVILLE, MA – The Somerville Fire Department will unveil its newly renovated firefighter memorial this weekend at the annual Firefighter Memorial Sunday remembrance. The century-old event takes place the first Sunday in June to honor the Somerville firefighters who died in the line of duty and recognize current and retired firefighters who passed away during the year.

The services will begin Sunday, June 4 at the Arrow Paper Memorial on South Street at 8 a.m. There will be a brief wreath laying ceremony, followed by the unveiling of the firefighter memorial at the Lowell Street Fire Station, 651 Somerville Avenue.

Coffee, doughnuts and other refreshments will be served. Firefighters, friends and families are invited to attend.
