At This Somerville Film Series, the Name of the Game is Silence

"Hush," a monthly silent film series at The Rockwell, returns Jan. 4.

SOMERVILLE, MA – The Rockwell in Somerville kicks off 2017 with a bang – or rather, a shhh.

"Hush," the theater's monthly silent film series celebrating a bygone era of cinema interspersed with live music, premieres Jan. 4. The theater collaborated with film expert Erica Baptiste and musicians Noxaphonic for the series.

The Rockwell's next showcase will be "The Freshman," a 1925 film starring Harold Lloyd that tells the story of a young man in his first year of college who hungrily strives for popularity and acceptance. Originally grossing $3 million, the film was the highest-grossing full-length comedy produced by The Harold Lloyd Film Corporation and sparked a trend of college-themed films.
