Somerville Garden Club: October 21st Meeting: Cold Frames

Gretel Anspach will speak on "Cold Frames" at October's Somerville Garden Club meeting, 7-9pm on Oct. 21

Cold Frames” is the topic of the Wednesday, Oct. 21 meeting of the Somerville Garden Club. Gretel Anspach, a recent past president of the Massachusetts Master Gardeners Association, software engineer, and member of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society’s Board of Trustees, will give a talk about cold frames. Cold frames and hoop houses are a way of extending the growing season, allowing vegetables to be planted 2-4 weeks earlier and helping seedlings transition from inside to the outdoors. We will learn how, where and when to use these interesting tools in our gardens.

All monthly Somerville Garden Club meetings are free and all gardeners and garden enthusiasts are invited to attend. Meetings are held at the Tufts Administration Building, 167 Holland St., 7-9 pm, second floor, wheelchair accessible. Parking is available on site, and the building is a short walk from the Davis Square T station, and is on the #87 bus route. Over one third of club members are from neighboring communities; to learn more about the Somerville Garden Club please visit www.somervillegardenclub.org.
