Somerville I-93 Closures In September, October

Work will mostly take place at night between the Zakim Bridge and Exit 29. Here's what drivers should know.

SOMERVILLE, MA – There will be overnight lane and on/off-ramp closures on sections of I-93 North between the Zakim Bridge and Exit 29 in Somerville starting early next month. Work will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 5 and run nightly through early October, according to MassDOT.

During this time, drivers will be impacted between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., though these may be extended on weekend mornings depending on the traffic. Signs, pavement markings and channelizing devices will be utilized to guide vehicles through the work zone. Detours will be implemented at ramp closures and drivers should allot for extra time.

Milling and paving will be completed on the upper deck section of I-93 North between the Zakim Bridge and Exit 29. Work is weather permitting and may change without notice.
