Somerville Man Charged With Assaulting 5 Officers
Terrance Morrison, 25, was arrested after leading officers on a foot chase through East Somerville last week, police said.
SOMERVILLE, MA — A man was arrested last week after assaulting five officers and leading police on a foot chase through East Somerville. Officers attempted to arrest 25-year-old Terrance Morrison after a check was requested at his Michigan Avenue apartment Sept. 19, police said. Morrison was wanted on three warrants and is well known to officers, according to the police report.
Morrison and a woman in the apartment were told to step outside, and officers asked Morrison to put his hands behind his back. Morrison then charged toward one of the officers, slamming him against the wall, and shoved another officer out of the way while running toward the stairs, according to the police report.
One of the officers was able to wrap his legs around Morrison, while three others grabbed his upper body, police said. He head-butted and elbowed several officers, the police report stated. As Morrison continued to fight, one of the officers' legs became twisted in the group, and police lost their grip on him when his shirt ripped off, according to the police report.

Morrison ran toward Wisconsin Avenue, where he was found hiding on a third-floor patio, police said. He fled again when officers threatened to spray him with pepper spray, according to police. Officers grabbed him by the arms, and he tried to run down the stairs as police were still holding onto him, the police report stated.
Officers were able to bring Morrison to the ground and arrest him, police said. One of the officers had a severe leg injury, another had minor bruising, scrapes and back pain and three did not sustain any major injuries.

Morrison was charged with five counts of assault and battery on a police officer and one count of resisting arrest. He also faces Cambridge warrant charges of larceny of a credit card, credit card fraud under $1,200, receiving stolen motor vehicle (subsequent offense) and larceny over $1,200.
