UPDATED: Police Identify Officer Involved in Motorcycle Crash

A Somerville officer on a police motorcycle collided with a minivan at about 9:10 a.m. Monday at Medford and Pearl streets behind Somerville High School, according to Somerville Deputy Police Chief Paul Trant.

The traffic officer, Robert Hickey, a 20-year veteran on the force, was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, Trant said.

The minivan was a 1995 Honda Odyssey operated by a Malden man.

The crash is under investigation by the Somerville Police Accident Reconstruction Team, Trant said.
