Somerville Police to Embark on Four-Month 'No Shave November'
It's about to get hairy in the 'ville.
SOMERVILLE, MA – The Somerville Police Department will see your "No Shave November" and raise you December, January and February.
The department announced it would extend the annual tradition to four months this year, with all of its proceeds going to the Community Access Agency of Somerville. Officers who wish to donate may be seen sporting a goatee or beard from Nov. 1 to Mar. 1.
CAAS is a federally designated anti-poverty organization that has served Somerville for 35 years. Its mission is to reduce poverty among families and individuals while working to counteract societal factors that result in sustained poverty.

The organization is anchored by its core programs, Head Start and Homeless Prevention (HPP). According to the CAAS website, Head Start is a pre-school program that provides a range of early education opportunities to more than 325 low-income children and families each year, and HPP assists close to 300 individuals and families each year with housing related services.
