Somerville Police Warn Of Credit Card Fraud In City

Residents are advised to check their accounts.

SOMERVILLE, MA – Police in Somerville are advising residents to remain vigilant amid recent reports of fraudulent purchases on credit card accounts.

Residents are asked to check their accounts. In the event of suspicious activity, notify the credit card company and file a police report immediately, the Somerville Police Department said.

Credit card fraudsters hit record highs last year. According to NBC, 15.4 million Americans were impacted by credit card fraud, up 16 percent from 2015. In total, $16 billion was stolen.
