SOMERVILLE, MA – The Boston Globe recently ranked the best new restaurants in greater Boston for 2016, and if the list is any indication, Somerville's already eclectic restaurant scene is on the verge of exploding.

The Globe named four new Somerville eateries among 47 restaurants on its "Best of the New" list – Fat Hen, Juliet, Mint Indian Eatery and Tipping Cow Ice Cream.

Fat Hen

126 Broadway

The Globe previously hailed Fat Hen for its exquisite cuisine and elegant atmosphere at a reasonable price, but it's not just the bang for your buck that caught the publication's eye. Head chef Michael Bergin is no stranger to high-end kitchens, having previously worked at L’Espalier in Boston and Manhattan’s Del Posto, and dishes like corzetti draped in Cloumage cheese and swordfish brightened with fennel sofrito shouldn't be missed, according to the Globe.

Juliet

257 Washington Street

This Union Square joint has the hipster ambiance popular with Somerville's millennial residents, but "European elegance" is on the menu, according to the Globe. The tag team of co-owners Josh Lewin and Katrina Jazayeri – Lewin in the kitchen and Jazayeri on the dining room, wine list and cocktail menu – makes for a harmonic dining experience.

Mint Indian Eatery

868 Broadway

A hub for Tufts students and young adults looking to grab a quick bite, Mint Indian Eatery offers alternatives to your standard grab-and-go subs and pizza, the Globe wrote. If you're feeling daring, stray from the norm and try one of its Indian or Nepalese street dishes.

Tipping Cow Ice Cream

415 Medford Street

You might not be in the mood for ice cream in the dead of winter, but this is one to keep an eye on as temperatures rise. According to the Globe, Tipping Cow breaks the standard ice cream mold, as owner Anna Gaul mixes cooked fruits "reminiscent of pie fillings" with her dense flavors.
