Somerville Street Sweeping Resumes Monday

Sweeping will start Monday, April 3. Vehicles must be moved to the correct side of the street on designated days.

SOMERVILLE, MA – Regular street sweeping in Somerville resumes Monday, April 3 and will continue until the end of the year. Sweeping occurs on weekdays, and residents are required to move their cars to the side of the street on their designated sweeping day as noted by signs.

Those who do not move their vehicles are subject to a $50 fine.

This season the city is unveiling a new street sweeping app. Residents may sign up to receive automatic reminders via the beta version of the app at www.somervillema.gov/sweeping.

The system contains street sweeping schedules for more than 36,000 sections of roadway. The City of Somerville asks that residents be on the lookout for any errors in the new system and report incorrect or missing information at www.somervillema.gov/SweepError.

Residents should rely on posted signage over the app. It is offered as a courtesy and backup and may not be reliable in this phase of development. A system error resulting in lack of notification is not an acceptable defense in getting out of a sweeping ticket.
