Somerville's Nuisance Of The Week: Neighbors Constantly Set Off Their Own House And Car Alarms

An exasperated Somerville man really, really wishes his neighbors understood how their security systems work.

For this experimental, hopefully ongoing Patch feature, we’ve asked Somerville readers for tales of their encounters with the city’s most annoying inhabitants. Those who’d care to use Patch as a platform to anonymously berate their nemeses should feel free to send tirades to barry.thompson@patch.com.

This week’s rant comes from a Somerville citizen sorely in need of some peace and quiet:

“My neighbors have alarms on everything they own, and are constantly setting them off!! Their car alarms go off every day! Their house alarm, which is even louder than the car alarms, goes off once a week!

“How the (@#$%^) can a person constantly forget to disarm their house alarm before opening the door to grab the morning paper?!?

“In fact, it seems like everything they do involves excessive noise. From their alarms, to their two yappy dogs, to the snow blower that they run at odd hours of the night, to the leaf blower they use during the warmer months to clear the trash from their paved yard. Not to mention the (!@#$%) floodlights they have connected to a motion detector so sensitive that the slightest puff of wind sets them flashing on and off for 10 minutes!!!
