Somerville's Preliminary Election: Everything You Need to Know

The 2015 Preliminary City Election will be held on Thursday, Sept. 17.

The 2015 Preliminary City Election will be held on Thursday, Sept. 17, and only residents in Ward 6 will be casting ballots.

There are four candidates running for Ward 6 Alderman that will be on the ballot in the Preliminary Election. There are no other races with enough candidates for a Preliminary Election.

The Ward 6 Alderman candidates are, in ballot order:

  • Charles Chisholm

Polling places for Ward 6 residents include:

  • Precinct 1: John F. Kennedy School, 5 Cherry St. - Sartwell Avenue Entrance.
  • Precinct 2: Somerville Community Baptist Church, 31 College Ave.
  • Precinct 3. Holy Bible Baptist Church, 14 Chapel St.

The two candidates with the highest vote totals in the Preliminary Election will move on to the General Election onTuesday, Nov. 3.

All residents who are registered to vote can vote in the General Election, which will be for all Somerville municipal offices: Mayor, Alderman at-Large, Ward Alderman and School Committee.

The deadline to register to vote in the General Election is Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Residents can find information about registering to vote and can look up their polling place on the Election Department’s website.
