Suspected Assembly Square Shoplifters Arrested, Warrant Charges of Drug Possession, Distribution: Last Week in Somerville

Monday, March 13
• Matthew Powers, 31, of Medford was arrested at 5:33 p.m. for a warrant charge of being a fugitive from justice out of Salem, NH. Powers was also charged with three counts of receiving stolen property under $250 and receiving a stolen credit card. Powers allegedly stole money out of the tip jar at Dunkin' Donuts and while being placed under arrest, a woman's Maine driver's license allegedly fell out of his bag.

• Derek Correia, 30, was arrested at 4:40 p.m. for three default warrants out of Quincy District Court. The first warrant charge is breaking and entering in daytime for a felony; the second warrant charges Correia with breaking and entering daytime for a felony, larceny from a building and wanton destruction of property; and Correia faces charges of possession of a Class A drug - subsequent offense, distribution of a Class E drug - subsequent offense, witness intimidation, operating under the influence of drugs, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation and operating a vehicle with a suspended license.

• Ayman Janini, 48, of Lynn, was arrested at 7:13 p.m. and charged with larceny over $250 and removal of theft detection device. Janini and his wife are accused of shoplifting from the shops at Assembly Square, and bringing wire cutters to remove the theft detection devices.
• Krystal Batzek, 31, of Everett, was arrested at 7:44 p.m. on warrant charges of operating a motor vehicle with the registration suspended, driving an uninsured motor vehicle or trailer and driving an unregistered motor vehicle.
Sunday, March 19
• Rui Ramos, 50, was arrested at 2:47 a.m. on an environmental warrant charge of miscellaneous statutory violation.
