A resident of the building reportedly informed police of the missing washing machine after she entered the laundry room last Friday evening. Police say the woman had noticed the machine present in the room just a few hours earlier.

According to the woman, three different washing machines were found stranded in the building’s rear elevator on the evening of July 30. All three of the machines were broken into as someone stripped them of the money that was inside.

Police say another resident living in the building informed them that they had caught a glimpse of the suspect who was described as a possible relative of a man living on the building’s first floor level.

Upon visiting the residence in question, Clough answered the door and would not allow responding officers inside, police say. Clough told police he had know information to share regarding the stolen washer.

After receiving permission to enter the apartment from Clough’s relative, the washer was found tossed on its side in a bedroom, police say. Drug-related items were also found inside the apartment.
