"Valentine's Through Rose-Colored Glasses" at River Bar

River Bar at Assembly Row soon will be struck by Cupid’s arrow at their “Valentine’s Through Rosé-Colored Glasses” weekend celebration. From February 12-14, River Bar will feature a collection of rosé wines available by the glass and bottle, perfectly pink specialty cocktails and inventive cuisine designed for sharing.

On the liquid side, the bartenders will uncork a dry winter rosé, the 2011 Domaine Ilarria Rosé ($14 glass; $56 bottle), and the 2014 Breton La Ritournelle Sec, Bourgueil, an unfiltered version full of “terroir” ($10 glass; $40 bottle). For more shades of pink, River Bar will shakeup a trio of cocktails ($10 each): Rose Tyler, a River Bar signature cocktail that will be resurrected for the occasion, made with Cocchi Rosa, Lillet Rose, St-Germain and gin; Little Words, a rosé spritzer with strawberries and lemongrass, garnished with sliced strawberries; and Most Sacred Monster, River Bar’s house “Dirty Shirley” – a booze-infused twist on a traditional Shirley Temple – with housemade raspberry vodka, Velvet Falernum and orange blossom water.

Because sharing is caring, executive chef Patrick Gilmartin has designed a menu without boundaries. For turophiles, the Cheese Board has selections from The Grey Barn (Chillmark, MA) and is served up with burned maraschino cherry mostarda ($15). There also is a Szechuan Beef Tartare starter, with wonton chips ($12). For an entrée, the Whole Grilled Black Sea Bass is topped with beurre rosé and braised baby fennel ($30). To end with something sweet, there are two desserts ($5 each): Cookie Butter Mouse for-two and Chocolate Cherry Bread Pudding.
