VIDEO: Alleged Chelsea Drunk Driver Is All Turned Around
Police say Jose Valle went on a "wild ride" near Chelsea City Hall Wednesday, nearly hitting more than a dozen bystanders.
CHELSEA, MA – Security cameras near Chelsea City Hall captured an alleged drunk driver's "wild ride" Wednesday. Chelsea resident Jose Valle, 56, was arrested and charged in a display that would give the proverbial bull in a china shop pause.
Police say Valle was behind the wheel of a blue Chrysler PT Cruiser that hit a parked car on Grove Street, drove down the stairs of the Chelsea Civil War monument, nearly struck three passersby, crashed into a trash barrel and park bench and drove across the City Hall lawn while pushing several large potted plants.
Rather than stop, police said Valle allegedly reversed and pushed another potted plant across the lawn, crossed Broadway amid a dozen fleeing bystanders and crashed into one of the city's antique light poles. He then allegedly drove down Marlborough Street, where he was arrested around 5:15 p.m. after his car broke down.
