Visiting Artist: Seth Rainville

Potter, visual artist, and independent curator, Seth Rainville, will conduct a two day workshop highlighting his unique approach to clay. His signature, “Ink-ware”, is created with an eye on storytelling, and a passion for porcelain’s versatility in multiple firing environments. His recent theater series was created specifically to capture the alluring effects of wood firing and will be one of the featured demos in his workshop. Seth will demonstrate his approach from sketching and drawing to completed forms. Pieces will include teapots and related forms, such as bottles, lidded jars, baskets and teabowls… all related to teapot construction. Beyond the technical and conceptual, Seth will discuss his journey as an artist, his approach to curating, and the realities of the art world.

Although this is not a ‘hands on’ workshop, attendees may want to bring a small piece of bisqueware on day two for a brief ‘how to’ of Seth’s Black Ink application. Call 617-628-0589 for more information or to register for this workshop!
