Celebrating over 90 years of excellence in fashion education, The School of Fashion Design is the only educational institution in New England dedicated exclusively to the study of fashion design. SFD provides students with a solid foundation in apparel design and construction, and the skills required for a successful career in fashion. Our technical Certificate program is taught by experts in the field of fashion design. Students may take courses toward the Certificate or on a class-by-class basis to fill professional education interests. For creatives and textile arts enthusiasts, SFD offers workshops in various fiber arts such as weaving, lace making, embroidery, millinery, upcycling, and more. As an SFD student, you will join a diverse community of emerging designers. Our studios are filled with recent high school graduates, students from nearby colleges enriching their education with fashion, and working professionals embarking on a new career path. SFD faculty and students are active partners in our local community, collaborating regularly with organizations and businesses through internships, exhibitions, field trips, and special events. Our reputation for excellence is on display each time our students show their work at fashion shows and exhibits throughout the year. SOMERVILLE, MA – A Boston man was arrested Friday after he was confronted by a Transit Police officer who believed he looked like a suspect from a "Wanted" poster. Mark King, 55, allegedly resembled a man who got on a Red Line train and threatened to hurt everyone on board, Transit Police said. The officer spoke to King and showed him the poster. When he asked if he knew the person pictured, King said the suspect looked like him but the picture "could have been photoshopped," according to Transit Police. Police believed King to be the person on the poster and placed him into custody for the incident on board the Red Line.
