Woman Dragged By Car After Somerville Crash

A 23-year-old Cambridge woman was hospitalized when a car dragged her about a quarter of a mile, police said.

SOMERVILLE, MA – A woman was hospitalized Friday night when she was dragged by another car following a crash in Somerville. Two vehicles, a 2011 Honda Civic and a 2010 Jeep Patriot, collided on Rt. 16 East near Boston Avenue around 8 p.m., state police said.

The driver of the Honda, a 23-year-old Cambridge woman, approached the driver of the Jeep, a 35-year-old Malden man, at his car. Police said the driver of the Jeep drove off with the woman attached to his car and dragged her about a quarter of a mile before she broke free near the Rt. 16 Whole Foods in Medford.

She was taken to Boston Medical Center for treatment.

The driver of the Jeep then walked to the Massachusetts State Police barracks in Medford and spoke with investigators, according to police.

The crash remains under investigation. So far no charges have been filed.
