For the second game in a row the Stoughton High baseball team (8-6) won on a walk-off hit, this time defeating Foxborough (3-11) 4-3 on a rainy Wednesday afternoon in Stoughton.

After senior captain Pat Jackman had the game-winning hit Monday against Sharon, he had the game-tying hit against Foxborough on Wednesday, and then came around to score the game-winning run against the Warriors.

Against Foxborough, Stoughton got a strong pitching performance from senior starter Mike Dixon, and from freshman Jake Gibb, who pitched 2 and 2/3 innings of lights-out relief.

Foxborough received a very solid game pitching from Mike Pipher.

Foxborough got on the board first in the top of the fourth when Mike Capadona doubled to left followed by Tim O'Halloran reaching on an error, putting runners on second and third for the Warriors. Kevin Duncan then crushed a double to right field making the score 2-0.

The Warriors got the score up to 3-0 when Nolan Clagg doubled to left, followed by Mike Slaby reaching on another Stoughton error, scoring Clagg.

Stoughton got 2 runs back in the bottom of the fifth. Jackman led off the rally by singling, and then stealing second base. Junior Jovani Pires then crushed a triple to left field scoring Jackman, cutting the deficit to 3-1. Pires later scored on a past ball making it a 3-2 game.

The score remained 3-2 until the bottom of the seventh. Junior Kaleb Ballou hit a one out double to left field. Pinch runner Sam Werman, a junior, then scored on a Jackman triple to tie the score at 3.

Pires, the next batter, bunted in Jackman for the winning run, and for the second time in three days the Knights poured on to the field to celebrate the victory.

The victory moves Stoughton within two wins of a MIAA State Tournament berth.

Stoughton head Coach Mike Armour talked about the Knights rally in the bottom of the seventh to send his team home happy.

"Guys just executed for us today in the late innings. Kaleb [Ballou] got us going there, getting the bat on the ball, Pat [Jackman] ripping a triple to get him in, and then Jiovani [Pires], just being Jiovani all year, just coming through when being called upon to execute, getting that bunt down to win the game for us."

Armour then talked about facing rival Oliver Ames Monday afternoon.

"It's a big game for us." Armour said. "They have had our number for a long time, and for the seniors that have been around a long time they're due. I just want it for them. Hopefully we just bring it on Monday and we will see what happens."

The big Stoughton-Oliver Ames game will take place Monday in Stoughton. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
