SUDBURY, MA — Sudbury has begun its search for a new superintendent for the school district.
The Sudbury School Committee is looking for 13 to 17 people to serve on a committee that will review and interview superintendent candidates before recommending finalists to the School Committee. The new superintendent is expected to begin in the 2027-28 school year.
SPS is looking for members who represent a range of school and community stakeholders. Most of the committee's work is expected to take place during evenings and potentially on Saturdays in November and December.
In-person participation is preferred for most of the process and will be required for certain meetings, including candidate interviews, according to the School Committee.
The committee is working with the Collins Center on the search. Although the screening committee will recommend candidates, the School Committee is responsible for selecting and appointing the superintendent.
The search follows a leadership transition that began earlier this year. Former Superintendent Brad Crozier left the district at the end of the 2025-26 school year, despite having a contract that had been extended through June 2029.
The School Committee later appointed former Assistant Superintendent Annette Doyle to serve as interim superintendent for the 2026-27 school year.
Community members interested in joining the search can complete the Superintendent Screening Committee Interest Form by 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19. Submitting the form does not guarantee an appointment because membership is limited
The School Committee said residents will have additional opportunities to provide input during the search.
