Don't Freak Out, But McDonald's Is Getting Rid Of That Orange Drink

"I finally get the HI-C orange drink in my life, and McDonald's takes it away."

While you weren't looking, years ago, McDonald's phased out the deep fried apple pie and replaced it with a baked version that doesn't crinkle or drip with boiling apple when you bite into it.

It was also peculiar; McDonald's "orange soda" didn't have any carbonation. It was that "orange drink." And it was on the menu for as far back as many of us can remember. But word is, McDonald's is going to do phrase out that drink the same way they did with the apple pie. The Hi-C Lavaburst orange drink (which is what most locations ultimately started carrying) will start disappearing from the beverage station in some locations by May, with the drink completely phased out by July, according to RTT News. The Lavaburst will be replaced by the new Sprite TropicBerry, a partnership with Coca-Cola.

Some call it the perfect part of a hangover meal. Others argue that it was the only non-carbonated beverage option among the Cokes, Sprite and Dr. Pepper.

Acording to Grubstreet, McDonald's had sent out this "warning" that the Hi-C was being replaced, with the memo leaked on Reddit. The stores will be allowed to sell the orange drink until it runs out, but rest assured, employees are getting versed on dealing with any backlash from customers and the guidelines to respond to inquiries properly.

A small-sized Hi-C Lavaburst packs in 170 calories and 47 carbs, but it's got no fat ... and also no protein. Never a choice for health nuts, here's what the drink contains: water, high fructose corn syrup, citric acid, ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), potassium benzoate (To Protect Taste), modified food starch, natural flavors, glycerol ester of wood rosin, Yellow 6, sucrose acetate isobutyrate, Red 40. Yum!

Many took their bows and arrows of resistance to social media, sharing their outrage at the removal of what is suddenly everyone's favorite drink.

Others vowed to switch their loyalty to other fast food chains, with comments such as "Wendy's would never pull this."

Some claim they are unwilling to forgive, with others claiming that the orange drink had brought relief and stability to their lives, even.
