Goodnow Library Author Book Talk – Sudbury Resident Helen Marie Casey on her book, “My Dear Girl: The Art of Florence Hosmer”

Friends of the Goodnow Library present Sudbury resident Helen Marie Casey on her book, “My Dear Girl: The Art of Florence Hosmer.”

Florence Armes Hosmer, born in 1880, was a farmer's daughter, determined to succeed as an artist. Acclaimed in the early part of the 20th century, she has fallen almost entirely from view.  This book is the story of how feisty Miss Hosmer painted her way through the new century and created more than 500 works, many of them quite remarkable portraits.

Helen Marie Casey's works have been published in many newspapers, magazines, journals, etc., nationwide. Ms. Casey has been a Sudbury resident for 31 years, as well as active in the League of Women Voters, a former member of the Finance Committee, the New England Poetry Club, PEN New England, and the National Writers Union.
