Simon Enters Lincoln-Sudbury Schools Race: Election 2023
Candidates are starting to line up for Sudbury's 2023 town election coming up in March.

SUDBURY, MA — A longtime state Rep. Carmine Gentile aide is one of several candidates who have signed up to run in Sudbury's 2023 town election.
Ravi Simon, 25, a Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School grad, will run for one of two seats up for election in 2023 on the school committee. He cited two statewide laws he's worked on — banning certain pesticides near schools and later school start times — as key experience while working with Gentile.
"First as a student, then as a legislative staffer, I have seen firsthand the kind of impact that policy and budgetary decisions can have on Lincoln- Sudbury," Simon said in a news release. "I am excited to contribute my perspective to the district’s Superintendent search, school budget, and the host of other issues before the School Committee."

If elected, Simon said he hopes to assist in the search for a new LSRHS superintendent, increase the school's vocational offerings and address rising transportation costs.
The two LSHRS school committee seats held by Harold Engstrom and Candace Miller are up for election in 2023.

Simon isn't the only candidate who's signed up to run in 2023 so far. As of Friday, Radha Raman Gargeya — a former Lincoln Sudbury Regional School Committee member — had pulled papers to run for the single Sudbury Select Board seat up for election in 2023, according to the Sudbury League of Women Voters. Incumbent Charlie Russo also pulled papers after previously announcing his intention to run for reelection.
In the three-seat Sudbury School Committee election, incumbents Mandy Sim and Nicole Burnard had pulled papers, according to the LWV. Burnard will run for a three-year term after she was picked in 2022 to fill in for Tyler Steffey, who stepped down over the summer.
