Sudbury Marks 350th Anniversary Of Sudbury Fight
Sudbury officials have issued a proclamation recognizing a major anniversary of one of the town's deadliest historical conflicts.
SUDBURY, MA — Sudbury officials have issued a proclamation recognizing the 350th anniversary of one of the town’s deadliest historical conflicts.
The Select Board proclamation, signed March 31 and published July 15, marks the April 21, 1676, Sudbury Fight and honors all those who died, the town announced on Wednesday.
The proclamation says 74 English militiamen were killed in the conflict. It also says about 120 members of a coalition of Wampanoag, Nipmuc and Narragansett Native Americans died, based on estimates by Puritan authors, although no bodies were found to be counted.

“All of the individuals whose lives were lost in this tragic encounter are to be honored and respected,” the proclamation says.
The proclamation was signed by Select Board Chair Lisa V. Kouchakdjian, Vice Chair Janie W. Dretler and members Daniel E. Carty, Radha R. Gargeya and Charles G. Russo.
