Sudbury Schools: 2 New Student Services Hires

Two have been hired for the Student Services department for the 2015-2016 school year.

Superintendent of Schools Anne Wilson announced this week the hiring of two veteran practitioners to help transition the Sudbury Public Schools Student Services Department.

“We are very fortunate to have hired two veteran, talented, practitioners to help transition our student services department and to support and continue to move forward the important work we are currently engaged in,” wrote Wong in a notice on the schools’ site. “Specifically, our focus on meeting the diverse needs of all students and the essential work reflected in two of our district goals related to inclusive education and a tiered system of support for student social, emotional, and behavioral needs.

John Verre will serve as 1.0 interim student services director and Denise Rochlin will serve as .4 consulting student services administrator.

Below are brief bios supplied on the two new hires:

Mr. Verre has worked in the field of education for more than 45 years. Mr. Verre most recently served as Special Education Ombudsman and Special Assistant to the Superintendent, providing facilitation and leadership for planning and implementation of special education and student services in the Darien (CT) Public Schools. Prior to his work in Darien, Mr. Verre worked in a variety of educational roles including: Assistant Superintendent for Special Education and Student Services in the Boston Public Schools, Principal in the Boston Public Schools, Adjunct faculty at Lesley College Schools for Children, and Special Education Teacher in Connecticut, New York, and Massachusetts. In addition, his prior experience includes work as an organizational and education consultant to public school districts, state departments of education, and community-based agencies. Mr. Verre received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Trinity College, a Master’s degree in Special Education from Lesley University and a Master’s degree in Education with a concentration in Administration, Planning and Social Policy from Harvard University.

Consulting Student Services Administrator - Denise Rochlin, Ed.D.

Dr. Rochlin has worked in the field of special education for more than 40 years. Prior to retirement in 2011, Dr. Rochlin served as Assistant Superintendent for Student Services in Brookline and Medway and was Director of Special Education in Lexington and Freetown-Lakeville. Prior to her administrative roles, Dr. Rochlin was a special education teacher and Team Chairperson in the Boston Public Schools. Since retirement, Dr. Rochlin has continued to work in the field of special education including: consultative work with school districts, teaching as an Adjunct Professor and supervisor of student teachers at Lesley University, an adjunct professor at American International College, and Practicum Supervisor at Bay Path College. Dr. Rochlin received a Bachelor’s degree in Mental Retardation and Elementary Education from Boston University, a Master’s degree in Learning Disabilities and Emotional Disorders from Lesley University and a Doctorate degree in Special Education from Boston University.
