SUDBURY, MA — Sudbury's Town Manager, Melissa Murphy-Rodrigues will be leaving her post in town soon. She will fill the same position in North Andover, although the start date is still up in the air. The North Andover Board of Selectmen will vote on her hiring on Monday night.

Murphy-Rodrigues said the main reason for the switch was her commute to work. "I live on the North Shore, so commuting to North Andover would just be a bit easier," she said. In North Andover, she will replace Andrew Maylor, who left the position to become the state comptroller. Murphy-Rodrigues was unanimously chosen from a field of four finalists after a months-long search by the town.

While she is excited for her new job, she said she'll miss her team in Sudbury and the community the most. "We have a great team here, from the bottom on up and back down again, they're just fantastic," Murphy-Rodrigues said.

Reflecting on her time in town, she said some of her best memories tie into the town's accomplishments, including granting the Melone Property to Quarry North and acquiring the Broadacres Farm property. "We got a lot done in a short amount of time," Murphy-Rodrigues said.

The town granted the Melone Property, a 46.6-acre property on Rte. 117, to developer Quarry North in exchange for 40 acres of land in town center. Under Murphy-Rodrigues' tenure, the town also acquired Broadacres Farms, a 34-acre horse farm, as well as Camp Sewataro, a 44-acre camp ground.
