Threat At Sudbury Middle School Prompts Strong Police Presence
A threat involving a firearm was shared on the Snapchat app involving a Curtis Middle School student.

SUDBURY, MA—Families and students at Curtis Middle School were alerted that there would be a strong police presence on Thursday after officials became aware of a potential serious threat to the school.
According to a letter sent to families from Principal Anne Wilson, a threat was shared via Snapchat among students on Wednesday and was being actively investigated.
"Sudbury police were alerted immediately and SPS staff is cooperating in an active investigation," she wrote on Wednesday. "The safety of our students and staff is the top priority and plans will be in place tomorrow depending on the results of the investigation tonight."

The threat, according to police, was made by a student and it involved a firearm.
Sudbury police, in a joint statement with Wilson, said on Thursday that "we are confident no threat exists involving said investigation. Although students and staff are safe, we will have a police presence to reassure students, parents and staff."

Administrators said it is focusing on reassuring students and providing support for anyone who knew about the threat.
Police Chief Scott Nix told reporters that they had identified a suspectand the suspect could face criminal charges as well as discipline from the school, reports CBS Local.
