Town Donates 75 Backpacks, and School Supplies, to Annual HOPESudbury Drive

Now, 75 more kids have backpacks thanks to the generous donation of people in town.

SUDBURY, MA—Throughout the summer, HOPESudbury held its annual backpack and school supply collection, collecting these items for those in need in the Sudbury schools.

Through Aug. 31, collections of calculators, binders, paper, pencils, lunch boxes, book covers, backpacks and other supplies piled in to donation spots around town. Supplies were also donated to Mary's House and Fitchburg public schools.

HOPESudbury said that 75 backpacks in addition to school supplies were donated to the cause this year.

"We have an amazing group of people who are always willing to help out on behalf of HOPEsudbury," said volunteer Jill Stansky. "I could not be happier with how things are going and more proud to be able to donate such beautiful things to these folks in need."

The organization grew out of a reaction to 9-11 to help those in need after the tragedy. The nonprofit grew, and now sponsors a variety of activities and events, including Beyond Our Borders and a Telethon, designed to strengthen community ties while raising money, collecting items and showing support for people in need.
