• Grateful Friends Seeks Swampscott High School Students to Launch Chapter (swampscotttides.org) — Swampscott High School students are being invited to launch a local youth chapter of Grateful Friends, a nonprofit that supports adults with cancer across Essex and Middlesex counties. Student leaders would organize the Go Pink! fundraiser each October and join year-round service projects, gaining leadership experience while helping neighbors facing cancer. Interested students can email a short letter of interest to the organization.
   

• Remembering Lydia Breed, a Pioneering Artist of Boston's Printmaking Scene (newenglandnewspress.com) — A longtime Swampscott resident and pioneering printmaker, Lydia Breed is being honored with a free public exhibit of her work at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lynn through October. Her legacy in Boston's mid-century printmaking scene, her ties to local Unitarian and Universalist congregations in Lynn and Swampscott, and her spiritually themed woodcuts and sculptures are all highlighted in the show.
   

• Massachusetts Fishing Report- September 24, 2026 (onthewater.com) — Anglers around Swampscott are finding a few keeper cod mixed with shorts just off the local shoreline, alongside roaming schools of stripers and occasional bonito along the North Shore. The statewide report explains how the current nor'easter, shifting bait, and cooling water are affecting fishing from Buzzards Bay to Plum Island, with tips on where and how to target cod, stripers, tautog, and tuna.
