The new Professor's Market at 505 Main Street in Reading had their Grand Opening on May 22. They have Breakfast, lunch, dinner or take-away

If you haven’t already checked it out, you won’t be sorry when you try the new Professor’s Market at 505 Main Street in Reading. Breakfast, lunch, dinner or take-away, they have something to please all tastes and cravings. They provide catering and have dessert and coffee covered too!

You may have noticed Professor’s Market has been open for business since early March, across the street from Village Carpet. They celebrated their “Grand Opening” on Sunday May 22. They would like to invite both new and existing customers to come in and Try before You Buy. Sample baked goods are available at the counter daily. If you are curious about one of the lovely salads available in the deli case, just ask for a taste.

Owner Frank Pellegrini will be happy to tell you how he was born into the specialty food business. Great food has always been a passion. While working for years at the popular Farmland on Main Street in Wakefield, he learned what people like. He also felt strongly about how things should run, and often shared his ideas with his Farmland team. Being that he was the youngest there, they would ask him: “Who do you think you are, the Professor?” He vowed he would have his own place one day, and naturally the name would be ‘Professor’s’ Market.

Frank and his wife Irina have a few favorite items including Arancinis (rice balls stuffed with meat and cheese). Their Dumplings are handmade and delicious. In the fall, they will offer Fresh Pastas. They invite you to pick your own favorite breakfast item, such as one of their creative egg sandwiches or Sweet Tart (caramelized bananas with Nutella). For lunch you may be inclined to try Mambo Italiano, Frankie the Meatball, a Ham and Grilled Cheese Panini, or a Spinach and Goat Cheese Salad. Be sure to check out the cookies, layer cakes and cheesecake slices for dessert!

Don’t worry if you have gluten concerns. Professor’s Market has gluten-free items also. The kitchen is open for customers to see how their food is prepared.
