Southern Kate Campbell at Linden Tree in Dec.

Kate Campbell, A Nashville is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter whose songs are inspired by the people and culture of the modern South.

The Linden Tree Coffeehouse invites music lovers to a special encore concert with Nashville-based singer songwriter Kate Campbell. The Saturday evening show on December 12th will begin at 8 pm at the Unitarian-Universalist Church in Wakefield. It is recommended to reserve tickets in advance for this show.

Singer-songwriter Kate Campbell took up piano at age seven before switching to the guitar as a teenager during the folk-rock heyday of the 70s. Since then, over the course of thirteen albums, she has written, recorded and performed almost exclusively on the acoustic guitar. Since her recording debut in 1995 with Songs From the Levee, her body of work is matched only by Emmylou in consistency and Lucinda Williams in her pure, honest self-examination and self-revelation. Each of her albums is a distinctive slice of music from one of the most unique artists recording today.

As a daughter of a Baptist preacher from Sledge, Mississippi, Kate’s formative years were spent in the very core of the civil rights movement of the ‘60s. These experiences have shaped her heart, character, and convictions ever since. Her songs capture the heart of the Southland in a way that some have likened to William Faulkner and Tennessee Williams. Kate has performed around the world at prestigious folk festivals in England and Australia and on radio broadcasts such as All Things Considered and NPR’s Morning Edition. Kate Campbell continues to impress audiences across the US and overseas whether large auditoriums or intimate church basements. Her clear-water vocals and eloquent gift for story telling that is both rootsy and contemporary makes her a favorite on the Americana Folk circuit.
