The Boston Girl with author Anita Diamant

Local novelist Anita Diamant to speak about her novel The Boston Girl at the Scandinavian Living Center in West Newton on March 13 at 2pm.

Don’t miss local novelist Anita Diamant as she discusses her recent NY Times best-seller,The Boston Girl, which follows the story of Addie Baum, born in 1900 to immigrant parents. Addie’s intelligence and curiosity take her through the tumultuous social changes of 20th century women – short shirts, movies, celebrity culture and new opportunities that her parents could not have imagined.

Ms. Diamant, who lives in the Boston area, is the author of 12 books including The Red Tent published in 1997, which won the 2001 Booksense Book of the Year Award and was adapted into a two-part miniseries on Lifetime TV in 2014. Her other novels include Good Harbor,The Last Days of Dogtown and Day after Night. She has also written six non-fiction guides to contemporary Jewish life as well as Pitching My Tent, a collection of her personal essays drawn from twenty years’ worth of newspaper and magazine columns as an award-winning journalist. Signed books will be available for purchase from Newtonville Books. Refreshments will be served.
