A true theatrical event, Stephen Sondheim and James Goldman’s legendary magnum opus is considered by many to be the greatest musical ever created. In FOLLIES the time is 1971. Theatrical impresario Dimitri Weismann hosts a reunion on ex-Follies performers who appeared in his now crumbling theatre between the World Wars, setting the stage for a parade of brilliant pastiche numbers, including Losing My Mind, I’m Still Here, Buddy’s Blues and Broadway Baby. Amid the reminiscing, two middle-aged couples confront some unpleasant truths about their highly-charged colorful past, the incongruity of their detatched, somewhat lifeless present and collide face-to-face with the future. Surreal, sophisticated, compelling, heart-wrenching and epic in scope, FOLLIES uses the musical theater as a metaphor for the collapse of American innocence and naivete in the post-Kennedy years. It is a showcase for powerful dramatic actrs, featuring a large cast rich in charatcer, strong in presence. Spectacular and grand; you will love being a part of FOLLIES.
