International Concert Pianist Sam Rotman Performs in Waltham, May 14

International concert pianist Sam Rotman will perform works by Scarlatti, Mozart, Chopin, Beethoven, Debussy and Bartok, 7 pm, Tuesday, May 14, at Hope International Church, 21 Bruce Road, Waltham, MA. Mr. Rotman, who has performed over 2400 concerts in 58 countries, performed his 2500th concert while on tour in Ireland during the month of April.

When Sam Rotman debuted at the age of 16 before an audience of 6,000 people with the San Antonio Symphony Orchestra, the Baldwin Keynote Magazine wrote, “Sam Rotman is a pianist with abundant potential.” Mr. Rotman went on to receive his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Julliard School in NYC. While a student, he was a recipient of nine awards and has been among the winners in five piano competitions in the US and Europe. His most prestigious award was the Laureate Winner in the 4th International Beethoven Competition in Vienna. His specific area of study and performance is the works of Beethoven. Beginning with a series of all Beethoven concerts in 1970 (the Beethoven bi-centennial), he performed in a special Beethoven concert on PBS. Mr. Rotman continues to perform the works of Beethoven in recital and in concert.

In addition to performing his music, Mr. Rotman speaks of his own life as a Jew and a committed Christian.


 


Mr. Rotman has released four recordings: Portrait of a Piano, Impressions (Claude Debussy), Mussorgsky’s Pictures at An Exhibition, and Piano Music of Beethoven. He has also produced a video entitled Sam Rotman, Concert Pianist: The Music and Testimony of a Jew for Jesus. He has taught for ten years at the D’Angelo School of Music at Mercyhurst University in Pennsylvania.
