Financial Vulnerable Seniors in Local Communities Benefit from Grant
Springwell received a grant from the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation to support financially-vulnerable seniors.

As reports of elder financial abuse rise, Springwell received word that the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation would be providing a grant in support of its Money Management Program for 2017. This week, Eastern Benefits Group Vice President, Lisa Niedzielski, presented the grant that will help low-income, vulnerable seniors and adults with disabilities manage their finances and remain independent. Springwell’s Money Management Program volunteers provide monthly in-home assistance with routine money management tasks, provide guidance on how to stretch a budget and information about dangerous money scams. The program serves the communities of Belmont, Brookline, Needham, Newton, Waltham, Watertown, Wellesley, and Weston.
“The Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation’s generous support makes a statement about their commitment to the most vulnerable members of our shared communities and especially those served by Springwell’s Money Management Program,” says Springwell Associate Director, Laura Vanderhill. “This program is provided free to frail, low-income elderly and disabled residents, thanks to the partnership of a number of local corporate and foundation donors who close the gap between state funding for the program and the costs to run it.” To learn more about volunteering for or benefiting from the Money Management Program, call 617-926-4100 x201 or email the Program Coordinator, Jen Dunning at jdunning@springwell.com.
This year Springwell is celebrating its 40th anniversary as a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to help seniors, people with disabilities, and caregivers get the in-home services and supports that can make it possible for them to live and age at home, in the community. We support thousands of individuals each year by deploying an expert staff to deliver a significant array of more than 20 services and programs including Case Management & In-Home Services, Supportive Housing, Protective Services, Nutrition Services, Information & Consultation Services, Healthy Living Workshops, Caregiver Support, Money Management, and Friendly Visitors/Medical Escorts.
