Four Arrested at National Grid's Waltham Headquarters

Activists from the group FANG Collective staged a sit-in Wednesday to protest some of the electricity company's business practices.

WALTHAM, MA - Four protestors were arrested Wednesday after holding a sit-in at National Grid's North American headquarters in Waltham.

A representative of the FANG Collective confirmed to the Waltham News Tribune that the activists were members of their group. They were arrested after refusing to leave the building until their grievances with the company were acknowledged.

Of concern to the activists are the company's utility shut-off practices and its support of fracked-gas infrastructure at several of its facilities in the northeast region, according to the News Tribune.

The four were arrested after approximately an hour, a representative told the site. At the sit-in they deployed a mock report card, where they gave National Grid failing grades on a number of its practices.

For two years the FANG Collective has actively opposed Spectra Energy's fracked gas pipelines. National Grid is a 20 percent stakeholder in the company's proposed Access Northeast pipeline.
