UPDATE: Hearing Back On for Waltham Man Accused of Murdering Wife

The hearing for defendant Julio Resto, who was charged with murder and assault, is now happening on Tuesday.

A hearing scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 6, for defendant Julio Resto had been postponed, but is now back on as originally planned, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney’s office.

Resto was arraigned in Waltham District Court on December 31, on charges of murder and assault with a dangerous weapon (7 counts). On Dec. 31, Judge Gregory Flynn ordered Resto held without bail until Resto’s next scheduled court hearing.

DA Marian Ryan announced on Dec. 31 that Resto, 51, who is from Waltham, was arraigned in connection with charges that he stabbed his wife to death in an apartment at 204 Clocktower Drive in Waltham.

“The victim in this case was viciously attacked in her apartment,” said District Attorney Ryan in the statement. “The defendant arrived at the police station this morning and allegedly told police he was the killer. While this is still an active investigation, we feel the person responsible for this murder is in custody and that members of the public are not in danger.”

Authorities say that Resto went to the Waltham police station early in the morning on Dec. 31 banging on the door with a knife in his hand, and what looked like blood on his clothing. When police attempted to arrest him, he lunged at them, and also made statements about having just killed his wife. Police found a deceased woman at 2014 Clocktower Drive, Unit 6113.
