ICYMI: Waltham Man Charged with Injuring Cops at Boston Public Library

Waltham, MA - A Waltham man was arraigned Tuesday in Boston Municipal Court on charges connected to an incident Monday at the Boston Public Library's main branch.

Kevin William, 40, was charged with trespassing, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and assault and battery on a police officer. Judge Thomas Horgan set his bail at $2,500 and ordered Williams to stay away from the library and remain alcohol-free while the case is pending.

Patch reported yesterday that two Boston Police Department officers were injured while removing a patron from the library on Copley Square.

According to the charges, library staff asked Boston Police to remove Williams from the library's McKim Building at about 11:45 a.m. Monday. Williams allegedly engaged two of the officers in what a press release calls a "violent struggle," causing injuries. The officers were later treated at Tufts Medical Center.

Williams is due back in court on May 23.
