KYLE MEGRATH NAMED PROGRAM MANAGER OF GREATER BOSTON PFLAG
Leader in LGBTQ advocacy movement to help further mission of renowned organization

Greater Boston PFLAG (Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer/Questioning People) recently announced the appointment of Kyle Megrath to the position of Program Manager. Based in Waltham, Greater Boston PFLAG is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering LGBTQ-inclusive families, schools, and communities.
In the role of Program Manager, Megrath will be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the organization’s award-winning programming initiatives. This includes the Safe Schools and Communities Program, Workplace Education and Support Programs, Help Line, One-to-One Parent Support Network, more than a dozen Support Groups across the state, and a number of new programs designed to help LGBTQ individuals, their families, and communities around the topics of sexual orientation and gender identity. Megrath will also play a key role as a facilitator and educator representing Greater Boston PFLAG in schools and in the community.
According to Greater Boston PFLAG President Tom Bourdon, Megrath’s vast experience as both a successful manager for same-sex marriage campaigns as well as a therapist dedicated to providing support, education, and advocacy for hundreds of the area’s youth and their families make him a perfect fit for the organization. “Throughout his career, Kyle has managed teams, facilitated difficult conversations, trained individuals and groups, and led communities,” said Bourdon. “Kyle possesses the special qualities that it takes to be successful in the Program Manager role: he is an amazing listener, a critical thinker, and has the ability to light up a room instantaneously. He is a fantastic addition to the Greater Boston PFLAG team.”

A native New Englander with a Master’s degree from Boston College, Megrath began his career as a family therapist in the Boston area. Megrath’s passion for advocacy and his expertise in management and facilitation led to several high-profile positions in same-sex marriage campaigns both locally and nationally. Most recently, Megrath was the Campaign Manager for Hoosiers Unite for Marriage in Indianapolis where he managed a successful campaign to achieve marriage equality in 2014. Prior to this position, Megrath was the Field Director for Freedom Indiana, an In-District Field Organizer for Rhode Islanders United for Marriage, and Regional Field Director for Mainers United for Marriage. Megrath also holds a B.A. from Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
Megrath’s extensive work as an advocate and ally to the LGBTQ community has made a tremendous impact both locally and nationally. “Kyle is skilled at developing and executing work plans, is a great public face for the cause of LGBTQ equality, and is a strong manager of staff and coalition relationships,” stated Marc Solomon, National Campaign Director for Freedom to Marry and former Executive Director of MassEquality. “He is easy to work with and collaborate with, and most importantly, he is deeply committed to equality across the board.”

Megrath brings a unique perspective to the Program Manager position. According to Megrath, his commitment to advocating as an ally for the LGBTQ community became solidified after witnessing the rejection and discrimination his gay uncle experienced. “PFLAG is considered one of the premiere ally organizations in the nation,” said Bourdon. “I am ecstatic that our new Program Manager wears his identity of being a straight ally as a badge of honor, as someone who is committed to creating safer spaces for LGBTQ people everywhere.”
