More Snow Expected in the Coming Days

Two storms could drop more snow on Massachusetts.

Don’t look now, but more snow could be headed to Massachusetts over the next few days.

The National Weather Service said parts of Massachusetts could get as much as 6 inches of snow on late Thursday night and Friday.

Here are projected snowfall totals by area, according to the NWS:

  • Northeastern Massachusetts -- 4-6 inches
  • Greater Boston -- 3-4 inches
  • Metro West -- 2-4 inches
  • North Shore -- 2-3 inches
  • Central Mass -- 2-3 inches
  • South Shore -- 2-3 inches
  • Cape Cod and the Islands -- 1-3 inches

Another potentially larger round of snow could hit the area on Sunday night and Monday. The National Weather Service said the system will be “loaded with moisture as it approaches our region,” but the track will determine whether it’s all snow or snow changing to rain.

It’s still too early for possible totals or whether the second storm will even make it to Massachusetts.
