New Waltham High School: Joint Meeting In January
The Waltham Committee of the Whole voted to hold a joint meeting next month with the School Committee on the High School.

WALTHAM, MA — The Waltham Committee of the Whole voted Monday night to hold a joint public meeting with School Committee and the School Building Committee next month after new city council members are sworn in get supplied with the pile of documents related to the high school selection.
The committee also voted to obtain an independent moderator for the event.
Superintendent Andrew Echelson was at the meeting and reminded the room that the School Committee was pushing for the Stigmatine property, but also delivering a state of the art building.

"I hope that as adults we can figure out how to make that work," he told the committee.
There was some question about whether city councilors who lived within 300 feet of the properties slated to be discussed should recuse themselves from the discussion, but Councilor Logan said the spirit of that rule was when the councilors were issuing permits and taking on the role of quasi judge.

Councilor Kathleen McMenimen, who has recused herself from talking about the Fernald Property because the State Ethics Committee told her she shouldn't disagreed.
